This is the first novella starting the Lords of the Underworld series.
It's been a while since I read a Paranormal Romance book and I missed it! :) There is this limit of "fun" in "regular" romance books and since I started my reading fever with Fantasy books I find it fitting that I "grew into" the PNR genre.
This is my first book by Gena Showalter and actually I"m not even sure what this series is about! :) I just got a really good recommendation on it and added it to my ever growing books to read.
This is the story of Geryon The guardian of Hell who accepts Kadence Goddess of oppression's plea for help. Geryon have been the guardian for many years. he is bond to the wall he is guarding by a bargain he made when he was human. In this bargain he not only bargained his occupation but also his soul. Kadence frees Geryon's soul so he would help her find the Demon Lords who have been damaging the wall and thus damaging her since she is bound to the wall and feel physical pain whenever there is a breach in it. There is attraction from both sides but of course they both don't suspect the other is interested in them. I loved the ending especially because it wasn't what I expected.
I liked this one but didn't fall head over feet. It's hard to tell a good story - especially a PNR one - where you have to build a world beside the story itself and still be able not to rush anything. Which is what happened in this novella in my eyes - There was a lot of "preface" of them getting to know each other better, then we have about two chapters of action and rushed romance sortof mashed together following by a very sweet yet very rushed ending.
I'm wondering where the series will go from her since this is basically the background story (or at least I think it is..) After reading so much other genres lately I'll probably eat this series up the whole of December.
